Tyfari ("we," "our," or "us") is dedicated to protecting the privacy of all our users, especially children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your information when you use the Tyfari mobile application (the "App") and our website (located at tyfari.com/app/in).
Tyfari is designed as a family-friendly typing application, featuring age-appropriate paths for children (Ages 3–5, Ages 6–8, and Ages 9–12) and adults (Ages 13+). We comply fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK Children's Code, and Apple/Google Play developer guidelines for family apps.
1. Core Privacy Principles
- Privacy by Default: We minimize data collection. The core learning experience, keyboarding lessons, and local settings are functional without requiring any personal data.
- On-Device Audio Storage: Any voice recordings or speech samples recorded inside the "Voice Studio" are stored strictly on your local device. They are never uploaded to our servers, shared with third parties, or used for commercial purposes.
- No Third-Party Trackers or Ads: We do not include any advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or third-party analytic services that track children across the web.
- No Selling of Data: We never sell, lease, or rent any user data (child or adult) to third parties.
2. Information We Collect and How We Use It
A. Personal Information (Adults and Teens 13+)
When migrating to a synchronized profile, we collect your email address and password to authenticate your account and securely store your typing progress. If you contact us via support (e.g., support@tyfari.com), we collect your email address and any details you provide to resolve your inquiry.
B. Children's Information (Under 13)
To ensure COPPA and GDPR compliance, we enforce strict limitations on children's profiles. We instruct families to use a first name, nickname, or avatar selection to identify child profiles. No full names are collected. Furthermore, child accounts can only be linked to a cloud synchronization profile with the explicit permission and email credential of a parent or legal guardian.
C. Audio and Microphone Permissions
Tyfari requests microphone access if a user elects to use the Voice Studio to record custom letter and prompt pronunciations. All audio recordings (WAV format) and synthesized templates are processed and kept strictly in the App's private local directory. Voice calibration is completed entirely on-device, and you can delete your custom voice profile and all associated audio samples at any time directly through the Voice Studio screen in the App.
Security Note: Your audio files and biometric patterns never leave your phone. They are stored inside your device's private sandboxed container.
D. App Progression and Statistics
We collect gameplay stats to provide the adaptive typing pacing and gamification loops, including typing speed (WPM) and accuracy percentages, completed lessons, biome milestones, and unlocked badges, as well as virtual gems and streak wagers. This data is stored locally and, if cloud sync is enabled, securely synced to our cloud database.
3. Data Storage and Retention
All local profiles, audio recordings, and app progress reside within the secure sandbox directory of your operating system (iOS/Android/macOS/Linux) and are erased if you uninstall the App. If cloud sync is enabled, your email, pseudonym, and progression stats are sent securely using SSL/TLS encryption to our backend database (Firebase). We retain this data as long as your account remains active. You can request account deletion at any time.
4. Third-Party Service Providers
We utilize backend infrastructure strictly to support internal operations of the App:
- Firebase (Google Cloud): Used for user authentication and cloud database synchronization. Firebase complies with the SOC 2, ISO 27001, and GDPR security standards, and is used under the COPPA exception for "support for the internal operations of the service."
- Device Text-to-Speech (TTS): The App utilizes the operating system's native TTS system to announce letters and instructions offline. No voice data is sent to external services for this core feature.
5. COPPA & Children's Privacy Rights (U.S.)
We do not collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If a parent or guardian discovers that their child has provided personal information without consent (such as an email address), they should contact us at support@tyfari.com. We will delete such information from our systems immediately.
6. GDPR and European Privacy Rights
If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access & rectify your account details, erase your profile and stats, request a portability copy of synced stats, and we require parental consent for processing data of children under 16.
7. App Store and Families Policy Compliance
We strictly comply with Apple's App Store Kids Category (no ads, strict parental gates, no device identifier tracking) and Google Play's Families Policy (appropriate content, strict safety compliance, no transmission of unique identifiers).
8. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy and posting the new policy in the App and on our website.
